POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Systems Engineer II is focused on the design, construction, testing, implementation, and optimization of infrastructure systems.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Level II
- Investigates and resolves Level 1 and Level 2 problems in infrastructure.
- Utilizes standard tools to analyze, identify and resolve technical problems.
- Serves as a liaison between the customer, suppliers, and other technical groups to resolve problems.
- Performs high level analysis of complex network system integrations.
- Applies specialized knowledge in network infrastructure to conceptualize, design, construct, test, implement and optimize network infrastructure.
- Engineers SA-related solutions for various minor projects and operational needs
- Contributes to and maintain system standards.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for sys admin tasks.
- Serves as an escalation point for level 1 problem or incident management.
- Analyzes performance problems and recommend solutions to enhance functionality, reliability and/or usability.
- Provides Level 2 support per request from end users.
- Investigates and troubleshoots complex issues.
- Repairs/recovers from hardware and software failures; coordinate and communicate with impacted end users.
- Performs periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
- Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configures CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
- Prepares reports and presentations as requested or necessary within GTS.
- Rotational ON-CALL support during weekends to support 24/7 operations.
- Patching Linux systems.
- Providing production support and assist projects wherever Linux team help required.
Qualifications:
Skills:
Required
- Strong communication skills

- Experience with monitoring, reporting, management, and optimization tools regarding systems
- Strong passion for technology and ability to stay current.
- Familiarity with automation tools preferred
- Ability to design and implement high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Expertise in ITIL and Services Management Principles
Certificates / Training:
- Preferred: ITIL v3 Foundational+ certification, Redhat Certified Systems Engineer (RHCE)
Experience:
Level II
- 3+ years systems engineering
- Preferred: 5+ years of IT experience
Education:
Required
- Bachelor's in Information Technology or equivalent
